Development opportunity for a local resident to receive training and support in the field of Technical Services within Renewable Energy

APPLICATION CRITERIA: apply if you –
- ARE 18-35 & A SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZEN: residing in one of the following communities – Hopefield, Moorreesburg, Piketberg, Vredenburg, Saldanha Bay or Langebaan
- CAN SPEAK, READ & WRITE: Afrikaans and English
- MEET THE CRITERIA: Qualifications and Requirements as detailed in the roles & responsibilities description
- DRIVER’S LICENSE: Candidates must have a valid driver’s license or commit to have valid driver’s license by December 2025
Roles and Responsibilities
- General
- Supports the Technical Manager with:
- Control and management of spare parts.
- Inputs in reporting documents and reporting systems
- Additional ad-hoc tasks as and when required.
- Supervisory responsibilities will be required at times.
- Assist the electrical team with operating and maintenance.
- Assist in ensuring that the team works safely and complies with appropriate risk assessments and permits them to work.
- Environmental tasks, such as snake handling duties and vegetation control, will be required as and when needed.
- Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.
- Operations and Maintenance
- Primary responsibilities are assisting in operation, maintenance, co-ordination (planned, reactive and preventative) and SCADA monitoring of the overall O&M functions of the electro-mechanical system of the plant.
- Ensure the highest possible in-service availability of Systems and other plant equipment on site to maintain the highest production capacity of the plant.
- Assists the Electro-mechanical Team with:
- Diagnostics & repairs of CPV Systems.
- Testing of electro-mechanical plant (such insulation resistance testing, voltage ratio testing, earth electrode measurement).
- Updating a database of equipment to record and track maintenance and repair history.
- Report compilation of operational and maintenance activities and incidents.
- Preparation of Risk Assessments and work permits in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Actively participates in safety initiatives and promotes safety awareness and accident prevention.
- Health and Safety
- Assist in the overall safe operations and maintenance of all electro-mechanical plants.
- Maintain Health and Safety standards as per the Operator’s Health and Safety policies.
- Ensure that all employees, visitors, and contractors are working in a safe manner.
- Report any unsafe equipment, acts, or dangerous occurrences.
- Record all safety incidents.
- Other
- Flexibility for this role is necessary, with the ability to accommodate flexible working hours, should specific problems or business requirements dictate.
- Complete all trainings and organized workshops and seminars during internship.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Certified Proof of South African identification (ID copy)
- Certified Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification
- Certified minimum of NQF level 5 qualification in Electrical Engineering
- Certified and valid driver’s license or commit to have valid driver’s license by December 2025
- Computer literate (basic computer literacy)
- Speak, read, and write Afrikaans and English
- A South African citizen residing in Hopefield, Moorreesburg, Piketberg, Vredenburg, Saldanha Bay or Langebaan (Stamped proof of residence must be provided)
